The Scott Walker Budget Is Already Working! Part XCIV

Jim Rosenberg points out that Wisconsin has lost 17.3% in airline seat capacity, which leads the country for the greatest loss in air service cutbacks in the nation over the last 12 months.

Of course, when you have Scott Walker and WISGOP killing jobs and lowering the quality of life, it makes sense that no one would want to come here or have a reason to.

Another example of Walker's prowess of taking something good and screwing it up royally.

  1. You might be right in that they might not be coming here for lavish pension and healthcare benefits anymore!

  2. Losses in discretionary income translate to losses in discretionary spending. That's what the Walker budget does and the outcome is pretty much a textbook case of how to weaken demand. Simply put, the Walker budget exports substantial amounts money out of Wisconsin. It should therefore be no surprise that most of his campaign contributions come from out of state, too.

    1. Its true, more discretionary income would help the economy, but when it comes at a cost to taxpayers, whether it be stimulus borrowing at the federal level or higher state wages the effect is minimal if not temporary, because eventually the bill will come. As in Detroit and Cook county. Nationally, we are in even worse shape.

  3. Who pays for the airports?

Wasn't there a big fuss over the (private) airlines not willing to take on some of the cost of Mitchell? Or was it that the private industry didn't want to invest in expansion of the airport, but still wanted an expansion?

  4. Doesn't this number include people leaving Wisconsin for trips elsewhere? I would think that is where the bigger cutbacks are, on vacations, tourism both in and outside of Wisconsin.

  5. Add this teacher layoff notice to the list!

The Menomonee Falls School Board voted unanimously Monday night to send out 52 layoff notifications to staff. The board originally anticipated sending between 60 to 70 notices. A preliminary notification does not mean an employee will be laid off.
