GOP: The Party of Lincoln?

Something that any number of people, including Scott Walker, Patrick McIlheran, and Charlie Sykes could stand to be reminded of. Repeatedly.

  1. Lincoln expressed that he feared that corporations would have more control than the people. Now the republicans believes that businesses should control things.

    Go figure.

I like that Republicans have to keep reminding people that they're the party of Lincoln. Imagine being part of a party where the average person has to look back over 150 years to see someone they admire.

  2. The precise Quote from A. Lincoln is:

"But I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. As a result of the war, Corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the Prejudices of the People until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed. I feel at this moment more anxiety for the safety of my country than ever before, even in the midst of the war. God grant that my suspicions may prove groundless."

  3. Yup.

That's why health insurers donated to Obama at a rate FOURTEEN TIMES GREATER than to McCain last cycle.

  4. And yet Obama wants to do the right thing, instead of following their purse strings.

Imagine how much better things would be if the Repubs had that much integrity.

  5. Republicans never said businesses should control things. Republicans say: we need govt to stay of of private businesses. Period. Learn the difference. Government interference only hinders progress, it never promotes it.

  6. What Republicans say and what Republicans do are never the same thing.
