In a Time of Crisis

I am sure that everyone has heard about the horrible fire at the Patrick Cudahy plant that has been burning for more than 24 hours now.

The fire crews from several surrounding communities should be commended for the valiant efforts to fight the blaze, as should Cudahy Mayor Ryan McCue, who showed good leadership in a time of crisis. He was willing to make the hard decisions in the effort to protect the public safety as much as he was able to.

Thankfully, no one was hurt.

It should be also noted that County Board Chairman Lee Holloway and County Supervisor Pat Jursik were quick to pledge County resources to aid in the emergency. The Department of Aging did a lot to help area seniors safely evacuate and made sure that they will be safe until they can return home.

But I have one question: Where was Scott Walker? One would think that a man who claims to be the best person to run the state would be at least doing something during a crisis in his own county, and so close to the airport.

  2. Oh, please, I wasn't there, but I am pretty sure the Sheriff's department helped out, Emergency Management I am sure helped out as well as other county agencies.
Holloway and Jursick cannot offer County resources- they can offer squat.
Your WDS is in overdrive tonight. Time to pop a few pills.

  3. Anonymous is hallucinating now. Sad, really.

    Dan-

There was no mention of the Sheriff's Office doing anything. I doubt that they had a lot of manpower to spare.

Holloway and Jursik are part of the legislative body. They can authorize policy, such as helping.

    But again, where was Walker?

  4. Walker was busy posting photos of his motorcycle trip on the Cudahynow web site, you know, so we all love him and vote for him.

  5. Get your facts straight. Walker was in Cudahy YESTERDAY consulting with the Cudahy Fire Department and Police Department.

For bloggers, you would think checking somebody's Twitter would be a simple step before making accusations.

Read it and apologize. And this answers your question from Whallah, about when you go over the top. This was over the top.

    From today's JSONLINE:
"Cudahy officers, the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department saturated the evacuation area and reported no problems with burglaries or theft while residents were away from their properties."

  8. Dan,

Thanks for the link, since I don't Twitter (yet). But a tweet from Walker is not proof positive. He's lied so much that I cannot afford to give him the benefit of the doubt.

But even if he was there, are anonymous friend cannot prove he was consulting anyone or anything. It seemed more like a photo op for him, which is pretty damn sick.

And Dan, your reference to the Sheriffs came some 14 hours after my post.

  9. Y'know, Dan, just because you have some perverse man-crush on Walker doesn't mean that those opposed to his malfeasance have a disorder.
