How Obama REALLY Got Elected

In response to John Ziegler's warped attempt to defend the GOP:

  1. Ok, let's dissect this piece of highly selective garbage. Highly selective because you could have easily put together a video of gaffes and mistatements.

Let's start with with the Gibson interview. Charles Krauthammer who coined the term Bush Doctrine said Gibson didn't define in correctly. Palin was being ambushed with a question that was so vague even the guy asking the question didn't know what it meant.

Loved the suggestion that Bush was somehow responsible for the damage inflicted by Katrina. Please explain to me how the actions of a highly incompetent mayor who is a democrat and a highly incompetent governor who was a democrat didn't play a part in the slow response? Still waiting for a democrat to explain that to me.

You seem to suggest that bush cared more about golf than national security. It is well documented (see Dereliction of Duty) that Clinton missed an opportunity to get Bid Laden because he was too busy playing golf with his buddy Vernon Jordan.

Obama said he has been in 57 states, Biden said jobs was a three letter word, and Pelosi said that America would lose 500 million jobs every month that we didn't have a stimulus package in place. If Palin or Bush had said any of thosae things, the media would have been all over it.

If you want to see some real idiots making gaffes, go to YouTube and search for Gaffe Mania I and Gaffe Mania II.

  2. Welcome Dash!

Unfortunately, you are trying to parse the detail and miss the big picture.

McCain was not a good candidate and proved that he was clueless regarding the economy. He tried to use Palin as a trophy, but as bits of information got out, she was deeply tarnished. And you also forgot the newspaper line. That was as softball a question as one could hope for.

The Iraq War was and is unjust. But Bush repeatedly showed callousness to the Iraqis, to the soldiers and to the citizens of the U.S. Bush denied having warnings about Katrina, even though there's video of him being warned five days and three days ahead of the storm touching land.

The gaffes are only the gravy, but even then, the gaffes from McCain/Palin were much more telling, and of a serious nature.

  3. No Capper you are missing the big picture. The media is suppose to be objective and they were not. They were so in the tank for Obama that they dropped all pretence of objectivity. A very, very sad comment on the state of journalism in America at this time.

So Bush was warned about Katrina, so was the Mayor of N.O., and The Governor of LA. So what you're telling me is that there was Federal, State, and local blame to spread around. I love the way republican place the blame on the state and city and Democrats blame Bush. Pathetic. Very Pathetic. I don't believe the evacuation was legally Bush's call was it??????
Hmmmm, who did have that responsibility. Funny how the media didn't give a damn about all of those Texasn stuck on HWY 45 between Houston and Dallas. You know Bush would have gotten those people fuel if they weren't white.

You mentioned that Palin and McCain made gaffes that were much more telling...Let's hear them then. Give me a few examples. More telling than my policies will bankrupt the coal industry. More telling than "we need to spread the wealth around. More telling than, this guy is going to be tested within his first six months in office"? More telling than "my Muslim Faith"? The list goes on and on and the media didn't report any of it. No my friend, you've missed the point.

You avoided my comment on Ayers, but I won't avoid your comment on Iraq. There is video of Clinton and Gore available on YouTube stating that Iraq had WMDs. Had the weapon inspectors been allowed to go where they wanted, the war wouldn't have happened.

George Bush has kept us safe since 9/11. Hopefully (and I am serious) Obama will too.

  4. Bush kept us safe since 9/11?

Considering he ignored the memo stating bin Laden set to attack inside U.S., he impounded his negligence by getting us into a war that was not necessary.

The UN inspectors said that Saddam didn't have any WMDs, but Bush et al. insisted they knew exactly where they were. But they weren't.

What of Ayers? He did a bad thing decades ago. Didn't he face court then? McCain has his own skeletons as well, which I wrote about during the elections.

But I will not rehash the elections four months later. The fact is, as the Repubs put it in 2000 and 2004, "We won. Get over it."

  5. Not discussing the election four months later eh? Funny, that video you posted before I ever made a comment seems to do just that. You seem more than willing to discuss the Bush Administration after the fact too.

It wasn't until arguement became to much for you that you decided it was a good idea to discuss the past. You've got the idiot you wanted in the White House. I just hope one day the country can get over it.

You don't have the slightest idea what socialism is going to do to this country do you? Go ahead sing about hope, change, and yes we can. Keep giving low interest home loans to people without jobs. Hell, let's not even have a military. We can just talk to people. We can put all of our money into abortion, global warming, and Acorn. Then we'll all live happily ever after.

  6. the argument became too much for you...etc

  7. The video was in response to those still clinging to their bitterness, just like you are doing.

Your hystrionic positions are not worth arguing. No matter what happens, people like you won't accept it because that would mean admitting that the ideas of the right over the last eight years were wrong for the country.

Where did eight years of right wing philosophy get us? An economic crisis, a quagmire of a war that should never have been started, bin Laden still running free, and the near destruction of the middle class.

BTW, it was your side that allowed the Fannies and Freddies to go ape and push the irresponsible loans. It built up in Bush's first term, when the Rs were in complete control.
