Walker Wants To Waste Taxpayer Money

Yesterday, after Walker spent the day trying to defend giving his cronies excessive raises while cutting jobs and services to the rest of the county, he also continued in usual hypocritical way and tried to promote moving the mental health complex to St. Michael's.

Again, this is as dumb as you can get. The building that housed St. Mike's is even older than the one we have on the county ground. Furthermore, independent studies show that it would be cheaper, and safer, to build a new building rather than renovate the old St. Mike's.

I don't even want to imagine how bad St. Mike's condition is that it would be cheaper to actually build a whole new entire building that to fix up the old hospital. Yet Walker keeps coming up with fudged and outright phony numbers trying to promote this no bid money giveaway.

Fortunately for us, the majority of the county board saw through the scam and denied the proposal.

Walker, being true to his hypocritical, weaselly nature, is threatening to veto it.

It truly is becoming time for a recall.

  1. This is my first time responding to a blog. I was searching for info on the Scott Walker/St Mike's proposal and came across this site.
I too am alarmed at the way Walker is pushing this move for the Mental Heath Complex and I wonder what the motivation could be since there are such obvious disadvantages to the move.
Where can I find more info on the County Board's deliberations on this subject?
    Thanks!

  2. Welcome marie!

I would not care to speculate at this time on what Mr. Walker's motivation might be, but I will point out that he does have a history of doing this sort of thing. The biggest example, up until the St. Mike's fiasco, was the demolition of the Courthouse Annex. Walker did that on a no-bid contract that ended up costing the County millions of extra dollars on "previously unknown asbestos" even though the contractor had inspected the building numerous times.

Currently, the proposal is dead. IF Walker does veto it, and it goes back to the county board, you can check the Milwaukee County website, contact you county supervisor, or just keep reading here. I am keenly interested in this matter and will be watching it closely.
