Is McCain Arrogant?

When the first Obama ads and posters came out, the would show Obama striking a heroic pose, with his chin lifted and a far off look on his face, like he is looking into a happier future. At least, that look is what I would presume that his campaign people were looking for.

Of course, the conservatives hated this, and they called it arrogant. They made up things about Obama's presumed arrogance, and would call him blasphemous names, like the Messiah. They claimed it showed how much he is out of touch with the common folk, or some such nonsense.

Well, I've noticed that some of McCain's recent smear ads (so much for a positive campaign, but hey, when was the last time McCain didn't flip flop on something?) have a new look at the end. During the part where they have McCain giving his name and that he approved of the attack ad, they show a picture like this:

Mmmm. Same tilted head. Same faraway gaze. Will the conservatives now start calling McCain arrogant, and out of touch with the common man? Of course not. That would be consistent on their part. But how can a man that has eight houses and a multimillionaire wife know anything about the common work-a-day world and the people that live in it?
Besides that, the pose doesn't work for McCain. It makes him look like he's constipated. Either that, or the Geritol hasn't kicked in yet.

  1. At least this up-filtrum shot gives us reassurance that Grampy McSame's nasal hygiene regimen is meticulous. I'll bet the new slogan is "John McCain; Not much nose hair for an old guy."

  2. Umnnnhhhhh...

The bromide suggests that only super-self-inflated types vie for the Presidency.

I don't think that's always true; G Washington didn't really want it all that much, and A Lincoln didn't seem to, either. I doubt that Ike was campaigning for his personal gratification--and JFK was there b/c his Daddy wanted the slot.

But in both McPain and Obmamamamama's cases, there's little doubt. The ego-meters are in a dead heat.
